A very good friend of mine decided to get married at the Coral Beach Hotel in Cyprus. Knowing the area well I was aware that the wonderful Thalassa Boutique Hotel & Spa was only next door and that it would be the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing few days before the wedding.
Hassle free transfer
The transfer to the Thalassa Boutique Hotel & Spa in Coral Bay only took about 40 minutes and was a comfortable, informative journey as the driver helpfully pointed out places of interest and recommended the best places to eat out.
As my flight was a mid-afternoon departure and due to Cyprus being two hours ahead, I arrived at the Thalassa Boutique Hotel & Spa at around 10pm.
I noticed straight away the tranquil atmosphere of this hotel, which does not accept children under 12 years old, and I could tell that I was going to enjoy a much needed relaxing stay.
Due to my late arrival I unfortunately missed out on dinner and the evening’s violin performance. However the intuitive receptionist was aware of this and guessed that I might be hungry, so organised a complimentary cold platter to be delivered to my room.
Whilst being shown to my room the receptionist was very helpful in explaining about the hotel facilities and their whereabouts as well as the restaurant opening times.
View from the one bedroom suite
The one bedroom suite was clean, bright and most importantly very comfortable. I had only just taken the weight off my feet on the delightful suede sofa when there was a gentle knock at the door. It was a butler with the cold platter that had been promised. A nice selection of cold meats, salad and cheese was just what I needed.
I woke up bright and early so that I could enjoy as much of the warm weather as possible.

The bathroom facilities were more than adequate and very clean. The shower was nice and powerful which is something you quite often don’t get abroad. The Thalassa branded bath robe and slippers added to the ever increasing luxury I was experiencing.
Breakfast is served!
Breakfast did not disappoint with a wide choice of hot and cold food. Everything you would expect was there; fresh fruit juices, eggs, bacon, sausages, cold meats, fruit, cereals and so on. I was particularly pleased with the Pain au chocolat which were fresh and warm. They had omelettes on request and the attentive staff made sure coffee and tea refills were always offered. However what topped it all was the setting. I recommend sitting outside overlooking the pool area with great views of Coral Bay. It has to be one of the most peaceful breakfasts I have ever experienced.
The pool area is spacious and overlooks Coral Bay with enough sun loungers and fresh towels to go around. Whilst relaxing in the glorious sunshine a welcome refreshment of fruit was provided. Melon and grapes on a skewer is not a huge gesture but add this to further complimentary offerings such as, ice cold eye pads and cooling flannels and it makes the poolside experience very relaxing indeed.
The pool itself was the perfect temperature, cold enough to be refreshing but not too cold that you lose your breath getting in! There are also steps down to the indoor pool and spa area which has an array of holistic treatments on offer.
Perfect sunbathing weather
Go for a wonder
If you have had enough of relaxing by the pool and prefer to go on a bit of a wander then the steps down from the hotel to the beach is perfect for a stroll with idyllic views to take in on the way. On route to the sandy beaches of Coral Bay you will pass the Ipokambos beach bar which opens from 10am until 6pm. Further on the path is a delightful rocky area where you can find the perfect secluded sun trap with the warm sea a stone’s throw away. Wooden steps are there to help you go for a dip in what are surprisingly shallow clear waters. This is also ideal for those wishing to go snorkelling.

The hotel itself is only a short drive from a selection of restaurants offering good food and evening entertainment. If you are looking for something a little more lively then Paphos is only a 15 minute drive away. There is a bus stop with regular services just outside the Coral Beach Hotel, which is right next door to the Thalassa Boutique and it only costs €1 to get to Paphos Harbour, which by all accounts is a bit of a bargain. Opposite the bus stop is a convenient supermarket which perfectly serves guests of both hotels who need anything extra during their stay.
Wedding at the Coral Beach Hotel
On the second day of my stay I attended my friend’s wedding which was being held at the Coral Beach Hotel next door. The Coral Beach Hotel is more suited to families with great facilities for children including Kids club, Crèche, activities and a fun activity pool with water slides. Having said this it is still a stunning location for a wedding. The reception was held on a beautiful veranda as the sunset over the sea, it was truly a wonderful setting.
If you are planning on getting married abroad then I can highly recommend the Coral Beach Hotel in Cyprus. Guests with families can stay with more than adequate facilities, whilst guests that do not have children who want something slightly more luxurious and tranquil, will not be disappointed with the Thalassa Boutique Hotel & Spa next door.
