The stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site of Borobudur on Java is a colossal temple complex and one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. Stroll amongst its temples and 500 or so Buddha statues and climb to the top to enjoy splendid views.
Route & Accommodation
Arrive into Yogyakarta. Be met by our English-speaking representative. At leisure in the hotel. Stay at Plataran Heritage Borobudur, Yogyakarta for 3 nights.
A morning tour to visit the Sultan’s Palace, a fine example of Javanese architecture, the adjacent Taman Sari, a water palace and garden built for the Sultan’s harem and the Beringharjo Market known for its excellent selection of batiks, sarongs, and antiques. In the afternoon explore the Hindu temples of Prambanan where more than 200 temples are dedicated to the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Optional evening visit to a Ramayana Ballet performance with dinner.
Drive to the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Site of Borobudur, a colossal temple complex and the largest single Buddhist monument in the world. Visit nearby Mendut and Pawon temples. After lunch experience rural life with a horse cart ride through Candirejo village.
Fly to Bali to be met by our Englishspeaking representative. Transfer to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Stay at Alila Ubud for 2 nights.
A full day starts with a visit to Bali’s largest flower market and the Ulun Danu Temple set on the edge of Lake Bratan. Travel to a working flower farm and enjoy picturesque views across the twin lakes of Buyan and Tamblingan. Savour a lunch of Indonesian and Balinese cuisine amidst magnificent panoramic views.
Visit the vast royal family temple, Taman Ayun, the sacred temple of Alas Kedaton, set in a forest inhabited by monkeys and large bats and Bali’s most photographed temple, the iconic Tanah Lot, perched on wave-lashed rocks. Journey on to the seaside town of Jimbaran. Stay at Keraton Resort, Jimbaran for 3 nights.
A couple of days at leisure, and at the end of your tour, to relax and explore the delights of the seaside town of Jimbaran. Spend a day or two on the beach, visit the local fish market and make sure to dine on the tasty seafood for which the resort is known.
Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
