An eight day wildlife-rich safari taking in three national parks and staying in comfortable safari lodges along the way. Journey through the world’s most famous wildlife park, the Maasai Mara, the smaller Amboseli National Park set in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro and the spectacular Lake Nakuru National Park, home to pink flamingos, white rhinos and the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffe.
Including international return flights with Kenya Airways, private transfers, the services of English-speaking representatives and guides, and accommodation mainly on a full board basis.
The game drives through the Maasai Mara. Time your trip to coincide with one of the natural wonders of the world, the annual Great Migration when more than two million wildebeest, zebras and gazelles, with predators in pursuit, move through the Serengeti and Maasai Mara.
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Nairobi.
Arrive early morning. Be met by our English-speaking representative at Nairobi airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Stay at Tamarind Tree Hotel for 1 night on a room only basis.
Leave Nairobi for the journey to the awe-inspiring Maasai Mara, travelling down the impressive Rift Escarpment and passing the Longonot earth satellite station, arriving in time for lunch and a siesta at your lodge. Later, enjoy the first game drive and begin to explore the African wildlife before returning to your lodge for dinner as the sun starts to set. Stay at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis.
Maasai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, and today you will embark on a further two game drives, trying to spot as many as you can of Africa’s Big Five; the lion, leopard, African elephant, African buffalo and black rhino. There is an optional* morning visit to a Maasai village after breakfast.
Enjoy breakfast before setting out on a morning game drive and return to camp for lunch, with a further drive in the afternoon; try to spot the mighty buffalo amongst the large herds of zebra, giraffe, antelope and gazelle which graze in the reserve.
Travel across the vast plains of the floor of The Great Rift Valley, watching out for giraffes and gazelles as you leave the Maasai Mara behind and head for Lake Nakuru National Park where a great number of flamingos line its shores. Surrounded by escarpments and ridges this beautiful national park enjoys a wide ecological diversity with bushy grassland, acacia woodlands and the largest euphorbia forest in Africa. Settle in to your lodge and after lunch set off on a game drive through the park where the wildlife include lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhino, antelope and various primates together with an exceptional variety of birds. Stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for 1 night on a full board basis.
An early breakfast before setting out for an optional boat ride* on Lake Naivasha, seeing a wide range of birds and the occasional hippo. Back at camp pick up a packed lunch and set off for Amboseli National Park, arriving late afternoon. Check-in to your lodge surrounded by trees and wildlife at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro and a twenty minute drive from the national park. Stay at Amboseli Sopa Lodge, Kimana for 2 nights on a full board basis.
Today you will set out on a morning and an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge for lunch. Lying in the shadow of Tanzania’s snow–capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is one of Kenya’s smaller game parks and as it is mainly savannah with unusually sparse vegetation it makes it ideal for spotting the wildlife. Look out for giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species with the western section dominated by a vast swamp where you can spot a variety of water birds including egrets, herons, pelicans and cranes.
Transfer to the airport in Nairobi for your return flight to the UK.
