Highlight of the trip

Day 1  Kuala Lumpur

Arrive into Kuala Lumpur. Be met by our English-speaking representative. Transfer to your hotel. Remainder of first day at leisure. Stay at 4 star Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur for 3 nights.

Day 2 – Kuala Lumpur

Enjoy a heritage tour of Kuala Lumpur. Gain an insight into the early cultures of Malaysia with visits to a Hindu Temple, Indian Mosque and Malaysian Clan House. After lunch the Batu Caves await: it’s 272 steps to the cave and Lord Murugah’s Hindu Temple. Overnight Kuala Lumpur.

Day 3 – Malacca

Visit one of Malaysia’s oldest churches, the Santiago gateway, the Red Square quarter and Cheng Hoon Teng Temple, where Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism are all celebrated. Enjoy a river boat cruise along a former trade route, the Malacca River. Overnight Kuala Lumpur.

Day 4 – Kuala Lumpur to Cameron Highlands

Head north on a 3 hour, 200km road trip to the cool air and rarefied atmosphere of the Cameron Highlands. Arrive in the afternoon and have the rest of the day at leisure. Stay at the 4 star boutique The Lakehouse Cameron Highlands for 2 nights.

Day 5 – Cameron Highlands

Take a Land Rover tour of Gunung Brinchang Moss Forest. Enjoy the views from one of the highest mountains in South East Asia. There’s a guided nature walk of the forest and a visit to a local tea factory. Overnight at Cameron Highlands.

Day 6 – Cameron Highlands to Penang

Depart on the 4 hour, 250km, road trip to Penang and Cross the Penang Bridge. Rest of the day at leisure. Stay at The Royale Chulan Penang for 2 nights.

Day 7 – Penang

Head to the markets and food stalls for a taste of George Town. Enjoy a guided walking tour: spices, sarees, flower garland stalls and temples populate the hectic streetscape. Overnight in Penang.

Day 8  Penang to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysian Borneo

Fly to Malaysian Borneo. Arrive into Kota Kinabalu, be met by our English-speaking guide, and transfer to your hotel. At leisure to discover Kota Kinabalu and the Filipino Night Market. Stay at Le Meridien Kota Kinabalu for 2 nights.

Day 9 – Kota Kinabalu

Appreciate the history of the Sabah region at Mari Mari Cultural Village. Meet a Tribal Chief before viewing tribal homes and ancient skills: fire-starting, bodytattoos and bamboo cooking. Overnight in Kota Kinabalu.

Day 10 – Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan and Abai

Take the 40 minute flight to Sandakan. Visit Sepilok Orangutan Centre and observe sun bears. Take a walk in the tropical forest and a boat cruise through mangroves to enjoy a sunset wildlife cruise illuminated by fireflies. Stay for 2 nights at the Abai Jungle Lodge.

Day 11 – Abai

Take a trip to Pitas Oxbow Lake to observe wildlife which might include orangutan and silver leaf monkey. Witness tree planting and enjoy a village walk. Overnight in Abai.

Day 12– Return

Board a boat for the one hour trip to Sandakan. Transfer from the jetty to the airport for your return flight.
