This extensive tour from Eastern to Western Cape covers some of South Africa’s main attractions: wildlife drives in Kruger National Park combined with a few days in Cape Town seeing its impressive sights, the beautiful Garden Route stopping off in Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, and picturesque Knysna.

Days 1 & 2 – UK to Johannesburg & Kruger National Park 

Fly to Johannesburg from the UK overnight. Early morning arrival. Be met by your English-speaking representative and transfer to Kruger National Park. Afternoon game driveStay at Protea Hotel Kruger Gate, for 3 nights.  

Day 3 – Kruger National Park  

Enjoy a shared game drive in an open vehicle with an experienced ranger to spot the Big Five. Afternoon game drive in a closed vehicle. Optional* open vehicle game drives are available.  

Day 4 – Mpumalanga  

Explore the Panorama Route including Blyde River Canyon, the Three Rondavels mountain peaks and God’s WindowStop at Bourke’s Luck Potholes and one of South Africa’s first gold mining campsOr enjoy an *Optional open vehicle game drive in Kruger National Park  

Day 5– Kruger National Park to Cape Town 

Depart Kruger for Johannesburg and flight to Cape Town in the afternoon. Be met on arrival at Cape Town. At leisure in the hotel. Stay at Protea Hotel Sea Point, for 3 nights. 

Day 6 – Cape Town 

Enjoy a tour of Cape Peninsula. Drive through Sea Point, Hout Bay and on to the southernmost tip, Cape Point. Return via Muizenbergpopular with surfers, before a visit to the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden 

Day 7– Cape Town 

ExplorCape Town independently. There is Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden and Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned. This can only be visited on a guided tour and booking in advance is highly recommended. Visit Table Mountain or spend time on the beach.  

Day 8 – Cape Town to Mossel Bay  

Travel the Garden Route to Mossel Bay via St Lowry’s Pass. Cape Agulhas lighthouse denotes South Africa’s southernmost pointMossel Bay is known for its blue flag beaches and seafood. Stay at Diaz Hotel & Resort, Mossel Bay for 1 night. 

Day 9 – Mossel Bay to Oudtshoorn  

Head to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world.  Visit an ostrich farm, local wine estate and take a tour of Cango CavesStay at La Plume Guest House, for 1 night. 

Day 10 – Oudtshoorn to Knysna 

Travel to Knysna via Outeniqua Pass, and George TownArrive in Knysnafamous for oysters and its protected marine reserve. Take a ferry to Featherbed Nature Reserve. Stay at Rex Hotel, Knysna for 2 nights.   

Day 11 – Knysna   

Visit the enchanting Garden of Eden, in the lush Knysna Forest, and see primates roaming freely at Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary. Enjoy the views from Knysna’s Eastern Head and the pretty seaside resort of Brenton on Sea. 

Day 12 – Return to the UK 

Travel via Tsitsikamma Forest to Port Elizabeth airport for the flight back to Cape Town and then return flight to the UK.

  • We recommend a one night stay in Johannesburg on arrival as the transfer time between airport and Kruger National Park is around 4 hours.
  • Although this tour operates on a private basis, please note you may join with other passengers on some game drives and excursions on this itinerary, including shared game drives in Kruger National Park
  • Daily tour durations vary between 1 & 8 hours and do not take into account the driving time between your hotel and start of the tour
