  • Overview

Delightfully translated as ‘joy’ in Castilian, Gozo is easily reached by a 25 minute ferry ride from Malta. This tiny island boasts a stunning seascape and delightful rural interior although the real beauty lies in the timeless villages where the locals, although treasuring their peace and tranquillity, are known for their welcoming and helpful personas.

Victoria, also known as Rabat, is the geographic and economic capital and both here and across the island there are delightful local traditions and customs visitors can witness and experience. With numerous restaurants serving local and international cuisine and Gozitan wines and craft beers on offer, there are culinary delights to suit all who visit the island of Gozo.

A splendid selection of beaches are available on the island, crystal clear waters provide the ideal location for swimming, snorkelling and diving, while the sandy and rocky shorelines offer beautiful locations to relax and soak up the sun. Visit Mgarr Ix-Xini in Sannat, this beautiful beach has a watch tower built in 1661 that stands guard over the entrance of the inlet.

For divers, this bay is the ideal place to explore with intriguing caves and a shipwreck located nearby. In San Lawrenz experience Dwejra Bay with its dramatic rock formations, visitors can swim in the calm shallows whilst further out the Blue Hole is one of Gozo’s top dive sites. Or relax in Ramla Bay in Xaghra, often known as ‘Ramla il-Hamra’, the ‘red sandy beach’, this beach provides an ideal place to swim, snorkel and sunbathe.
