Explore North Coast
Mauritius' north coast is home to many beautiful and iconic sites, vast sandy beaches and bustling nightlife. One of the most picture perfect and well-known sites is the red roofed church of Cap Malheureux which offers stunning views out towards the sea. In recent years Grand Baie has become one of the most coveted resorts on the island. Located north of Port Louis it is known for its stunning beaches as well as plentiful bars and restaurants. Just off the coast there are the small islands of Ilot Gabriel and Flat Island, perfect for a long day's diving and snorkelling.
The north coast is also home to two notable gardens. Chateau Labourdonnais, in Mapou, is a private estate with many acres of land growing vanilla, tropical flowers, papaya and lychee. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Gardens is one of the world's most outstanding gardens. Known as SSR for short, it is bursting with flora and fauna native to the island. This is the oldest botanical garden in the southern hemisphere. .
