Perched in the heart of St Lucia’s volcanic scenery, the resort of Jalousle is all about revelling in the bird’s eye view of the Soufriere coastline down below.
Located an incredible 1,000 metres above sea level, Jalousle offers views like no other in St Lucia. Turquoise waters, rolling rainforest and the rest of St Lucia spread out beyond is the postcard-perfect picture this locality has to offer. The Pitons – St Lucia’s UNESCO World Heritage Site of two immense volcanic formations near the sea – is a view that can be enjoyed daily from Jalousle too.
The resort is found in an area with a strong tradition of plantations, with vast tracts of land peppered with impressive colonial buildings, while a cacophony of produce is grown in the area. Cacao is one of the most popular goods traditionally grown in the locality, so expect plenty of chocolate dishes on local menus.
St Lucia’s famous Sulphur Springs are also within striking distance of Jalousle. Known as a ‘drive-in volcano’, it’s possible to drive right up to the hot springs here – apparently the only place in the world where you can do so. This is a popular place for visitors to indulge in mud baths – with natural minerals in the mud said to have healing properties.
Jalousle is a resort from which to enjoy the traditions and amazing natural wonders of the island of St Lucia.
