Six Senses Zighy Bay, overview

In an alluringly remote corner of Oman, villas made from mountain stone are nestled into a captivating peninsula perfectly positioned between rugged mountains and shimmering waters. Six Senses Zighy Bay is unlike anywhere else in the world: arrive by four wheel drive vehicle, or for the really adventurous, by paraglider. Occupying a superb location on the Musandam Peninsula, this luxury resort has been created in the style of a traditional Omani community. The use of local building materials lets the geographic spectacle of the region speak for itself. Walking along the enchanting sandy paths that connect the resort, superb scenery awaits at every turn.

Guest accommodation is in private villas, each with a plunge pool surrounded by a secluded patio. Beachfront villas enjoy direct access to the sandy beach too, while all villas come with a dedicated Guest Experience Maker to book activities and provide exceptional personal service. The private beach itself stretches out for a mile and is perfect for daytime strolls, reclining on loungers in the shade, or trying water sports, such as sailing and parasailing. For those who want yet more activity, the resort offers indoor and outdoor gyms, kayaking and mountain biking.

Six Senses Zighy Bay's award-winning spa comes complete with two Arabian style hammams, an ice cave and an indulgent menu of treatments that blend contemporary and ancient traditions. Don't miss the regular sunrise outdoor hosted yoga classes.

Cuisine at Six Senses Zighy Bay is a delight, with four restaurants and two bars each offering original menus and settings, from hilltop dining with signature dishes to Bedouin-style dining on the beach.

A tranquil lunch and dinner spot with a terrace overlooking the main pool, Summer House offers an exquisite menu that blends Mediterranean cuisine with Asian flavours. From ceviche and tartines to home-made pasta and lobster fresh from the grill, simple flavours are served with impeccable taste.

A fine dining al fresco restaurant located almost three hundred metres above the water, the views from Sense on the Edge are stunning. The French-meets-Japanese cuisine lives up to the location, with five, seven and nine course tasting menus available; this is an unforgettable culinary journey for so many reasons.

Organic cocktails and mocktails prove popular at Zighy Bar, as do the tantalising tapas and light snacks served along with the drinks. Avocado and pea guacamole, and numerous sushi plates are some of the highlights. There is something to suit all palettes. The indoor-outdoor seating area has a fun atmosphere, with views over palm fronds and the mountains beyond.

The signature Bedouin dining experience at Six Senses Zighy Bay, this relaxed beach restaurant serves incredible authentic Arabic cuisine. From hot and cold mezze to traditional Omani Shua lamb that has been slow cooked, each plate is a genuine culinary delight. The date maamoul cookies for dessert are something of a favourite.

An intimate dining experience with space for two to eight people, the wine cellar at Six Senses Zighy Bay is an intimate venue where wine tastings and paired tasting menus are served. Special cheese or chocolate tasting sessions are hosted by the master sommelier, while special menus can be arranged that include the likes of gazpacho, scallops and Valrhona chocolate desserts.

An award-winning spa, Six Sense Zighy Bay blends age-old traditions with modern thinking, and the available treatments are genuinely original. Plentiful signature rituals include exotic ingredients such as ylang ylang and crushed coconut shell to bring vitality, clarity and calm. Other facilities at the spa include two Arabian-style hammams and an ice cave. Al fresco yoga is also offered at sunrise on the spa’s grounds.

There are two pools, one fresh water and the other saltwater. There’s an indoor fitness centre, and a fun jungle gym to enjoy exercising outdoors. Watersports on offer include sailing, kayaking and parasailing, while on-land activities available at the resort include archery and mountain biking.

Chaica Club is a kids’ club for children between four and ten years. A range of activities are organised on a daily basis, from rock painting and sand art, to beach bowling and feeding the Zighy goats. Al Feetean’s Teen Club is for eleven to eighteen year olds, with activities such as treasure hunting and pizza making on offer.
