A glorious fifty acres of lush forest and secluded beach are part of this stunning resort surrounded by the Indian Ocean. Guests stay in white-domed pavilions, each with a private plunge pool and incredible sea views.
The design blends Zanzibari heritage and Scandinavian minimalism, with perfectly framed views of the natural surroundings. Each pavilion, there are fifteen in all, offers a true feeling of privacy with a gated garden leading to a domed suite with bedroom, bathroom and living area. Floor to ceiling shutters open the contemporary beach-style interiors to an outside world of plunge pool, sun terrace and garden. Monkey chatter and birdsong are often heard as guests wander the resort’s hibiscus lined pathways.
Cuisine at the resort is a comforting blend of international favourites and local specialities, with plenty of freshly cooked seafood on the menu to make the most of the Indian Ocean setting.
The main pavilion is centrally located within the resort, where an elegant bar overlooks the cool blue of an infinity pool affording stunning views of the ocean and the neighbouring islands which rejoice in the names of Popo and Mwana-na-mwana. The bar is very welcoming and there’s a Moroccan lounge.
The private beach is a short walk downhill, where there are loungers and beds, and paddle boards and kayaks to borrow. There’s also a shop, with local crafts, jewellery and clothing, and a simple spa.
