This spacious resort covers an estate measuring more than forty acres on Zanzibar's eastern coast. There are sweeping views of the ocean from the two infinity pools and the jetty restaurant, and almost at every turn a superb stretch of pristine beach to discover.

Rooms and suites are contemporary in style, with elegant terraces and large windows bringing a little of the exotic outdoors inside. There are al fresco tropical showers, beneath sun-dried coconut leaves, with ocean views. Exquisitely carved furniture made from exotic woods adds originality and authenticity to the design.

From the tapas lounge at the end of the resort's jetty, to the freshest seafood delicately grilled at the beach, the chefs at the resort's five restaurants bring a whole variety of different flavours and dishes into play. Spice Restaurant offers Arabian and African food, a la carte Aqua features cliffside Mediterranean dining and Gabi Beach is ideal for healthy salads a light bites.

Melia Zanzibar is as much a retreat for families as it is for couples. With a children's club, specially adapted menus for children, and an array of family-friendly excursions, children of all ages are made very welcome here.
