Upmarket Fredriksberg is known for its broad avenues, elegant parks and grand old buildings, plus a royal park, the old Carlsberg Brewery, the Zoo and the interesting subterranean exhibition space The Cisterns. The former working-class-turned-hipster Vesterbro offers cultural experiences aplenty with Vega one of the city’s most iconic music venues and the meatpacking district filled with galleries, cool bars, and trendy new restaurants. The city centre is home to some beautiful historic buildings and some of Copenhagen’s major attractions with the picturesque old harbour of Nyhavn, Rosenborg Palace, The National Gallery and magnificent Amalienborg Palace all easily discovered on foot.

    When to visit

    Copenhagen is a city for all seasons, with spring the time to visit for sightseeing, flea markets and a stroll through magical cherry blossom in the many parks and gardens. Summer offers pleasantly warm days and long, light evenings perfect for open air dining, plus numerous festivals and events including Midsummer celebrations in June and the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in July. Autumn is beautifully colourful and the crisp winter beckons with ice-skating, cosy cafés and a Light Festival in February.
