    With palm trees and powder-white sands, stunning scenery and fine water sports' facilities, it is no surprise that Diani Beach is Kenya's top beach resort. Bathed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, this is a holiday destination that has something to offer everyone, from honeymoon couples to family groups, energetic kite surfers to snoozy sunbathers. Yet it can come as a surprise to find just how many other attractions it has to offer.

    Chief amongst these is Kaya Kinodo, an emerald forest sacred to local tribespeople, with 600-year-old trees, strangler figs and an extraordinary range of medicinal plants. There are more natural wonders at the Colobus Conservation Centre, a sanctuary dedicated to saving the nationally threatened Angolan colobus monkey.

    The restaurants in Diani Beach serve delicious food and, at night, beach clubs and bars offer lively music and dancing. But many choose to end the day by simply sipping a cocktail on the sands and watching the sun go down.
