Day 3 – Nairobi to Maasai Mara

Leave Nairobi for the journey to the awe-inspiring Maasai Mara, travelling down the impressive Rift Escarpment and passing the Longonot earth satellite station, arriving in time for lunch and a siesta at your lodge. Later, enjoy the first game drive and begin to explore the African wildlife before returning to your lodge for dinner as the sun starts to set. Stay at Masai Mara Sopa Lodge for 3 nights on a full board basis.

Day 4 – Maasai Mara

Maasai Mara together with Tanzania’s Serengeti form Africa’s most famous wildlife park, and today you will embark on a further two game drives, trying to spot as many as you can of Africa’s Big Five; the lion, leopard, African elephant, African buffalo and black rhino. There is an optional* morning visit to a Maasai village after breakfast.

Day 5 – Maasai Mara

Enjoy breakfast before setting out on a morning game drive and return to camp for lunch, with a further drive in the afternoon; try to spot the mighty buffalo amongst the large herds of zebra, giraffe, antelope and gazelle which graze in the reserve.

Day 6 – Maasai Mara to Nakuru

Travel across the vast plains of the floor of The Great Rift Valley, watching out for giraffes and gazelles as you leave the Maasai Mara behind and head for Lake Nakuru National Park where a great number of flamingos line its shores. Surrounded by escarpments and ridges this beautiful national park enjoys a wide ecological diversity with bushy grassland, acacia woodlands and the largest euphorbia forest in Africa. Settle in to your lodge and after lunch set off on a game drive through the park where the wildlife include lion, leopard, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, rhino, antelope and various primates together with an exceptional variety of birds. Stay at Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge for 1 night on a full board basis.

Day 7 – Nakuru to Kimana

An early breakfast before setting out for an optional boat ride* on Lake Naivasha, seeing a wide range of birds and the occasional hippo. Back at camp pick up a packed lunch and set off for Amboseli National Park, arriving late afternoon. Check-in to your lodge surrounded by trees and wildlife at the foothills of Mt Kilimanjaro and a twenty minute drive from the national park. Stay at Amboseli Sopa Lodge, Kimana for 2 nights on a full board basis.

Day 8 – Kimana

Today you will set out on a morning and an afternoon game drive, returning to the lodge for lunch. Lying in the shadow of Tanzania’s snow–capped Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli is one of Kenya’s smaller game parks and as it is mainly savannah with unusually sparse vegetation it makes it ideal for spotting the wildlife. Look out for giraffes, zebras, cheetahs and hundreds of bird species with the western section dominated by a vast swamp where you can spot a variety of water birds including egrets, herons, pelicans and cranes.
