  • Overview

Chic, elegant, exclusive. St Moritz’s reputation as a destination of choice for the world’s elite is legendary. Beautiful emerald forests, scenic silver lakes and proud snowy mountains all sparkle in the crisp and clear champagne sunshine. This part of Switzerland shines bright like a diamond.

Set beneath the Albula Alps at an elevation of 1,800m St Moritz is the principal town of the Upper Engadine and is credited with having no fewer than 322 days of sunshine each year, all the better with which to view the seriously gorgeous scenery of this most alluring of valleys. Since 1864 this cradle of Swiss Alpine tourism has attracted royal families, celebrities and money, but the resort’s real riches lie without the designer boutiques and within the beautiful landscapes which provide myriad hiking trails once the snow has melted. Renowned for its winter sports, St Moritz is also extremely popular in the summer with cyclists, runners and hikers. On fine days in the height of summer, the Maloja wind blows creating excellent conditions for windsurfers and sailors allowing Lake Moritz to host the annual St Moritz Match Race which is part of the prestigious World Match Racing Tour; an excellent spectator sport given the action is in close proximity to the shoreline
