Grand Hotel Tremezzo has become a landmark on the shores of Lake Como. Dating back to the early 1900’s, the imposing building is rich with history and romance. Set sail in one of the hotel’s own boats, or follow in the footsteps of Greta Garbo and indulge in a little Italian fine dining at the La Terrazza restaurant overlooking the lake. Bellagio and the Grigne mountains provide beautiful views, which can be enjoyed from the hotel’s gardens, terraces and all three of its swimming pools.
As well as La Terrazza, Grand Hotel Tremezzo features a large winter dining room, ornately decorated with large picture windows that frame the lake. A buffet breakfast is served in Sala Regina, a richly furnished room resplendent in blue and gold. There is also a billiard room, a drawing room and a number of bars to choose from, as well as a pizzeria, and L’Escale, which is the hotel’s nod towards the traditional Italian trattoria.
Outside, a floating swimming pool set within the lake creates wow factor and ensures the scenery remains centre stage. Sun beds and parasols line up on the private T Beach, which overlooks the pool and has real sand to create a sophisticated seaside atmosphere. There is also the Flowers Pool, which is quieter and set in the hotel’s large gardens, and the T Spa infinity pool, which is inside and has five different Jacuzzis, a private grotto and the option to turn on a water current for people looking for a workout swim. A fitness centre, yoga studio and tennis courts provide the icing on the cake.
For guests in need of some pampering, the T Spa can offer it all. From anti-stress to anti-aging, there is a wide range of treatments available. The Hammam suite is the spot for a traditional Turkish bathing ritual with a steam room, a scrub plinth and a water-blade style shower. Or head to the sauna, which has panoramic views of the lake.
There are several different room types available at Grand Hotel Tremezzo. The top of the range rooftop suites overlook Lake Como and have large balconies and spacious living areas. The double bedrooms, which overlook the park and gardens, may be smaller in size but are certainly no less opulent in style. Rooms can also be interconnected on request, ensuring that people travelling with family or in groups are well looked after.
The hotel also has its own marina where guests can rent small motor boats or traditional yachts and dinghies, depending on levels of experience. Otherwise set sail with an experienced captain - the staff at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo can arrange it all for you. Back on dry land, take a stroll around the Villa Carlotta’s grand gardens, which are just next-door.
Bergamo International Airport is about an hour away from Grand Hotel Tremezzo by car. Milan Malpensa Airport is one hour and 15 minutes.
