A classic choice in the centre of town
In a central location in car-free, picturesque Zermatt, distinguished Grand Hotel Zermatterhof has been enticing guests since 1879 with its attentive service, timeless elegance and luxurious comforts; on arrival and departure guests are sometimes picked up and dropped off at the train station in true style by horse and carriage.
Classically furnished guest rooms and suites offer mountain views and some benefit from a balcony. Brasserie Lusi offers an evening menu of simple French brasserie fare, or for gourmet dining the Alpine Gourmet Prato Borni with its 14 Gault Millau points showcases the very best of alpine cuisine, whilst Swiss fondues can be sampled in the cosy cheese restaurant.
Guests are encouraged to make the most of their time off by simply relaxing, enjoying decadently long breakfasts, spend delightful afternoons in the drawing room with tea and sweet treats, lounging in the snug bar with a glass of wine and canapés or indulging in a relaxing massage or a dip in the indoor pool at the spa. For the more active there are tennis courts and a fitness centre.
We highly recommend
Take the funicular from Zermatt to Sunnegga and enjoy the 15 minute walk or three minute shuttle journey to Lake Leisee with its beach, crystal clear swimming waters and glorious Matterhorn views. The lake isn’t deep so perfect for swimming and the area is popular for barbecues, picnics and relaxing. There’s a restaurant at Sunnegga, a children’s playground and a marmot watching station close-by.
